Assistant Banquet Chef – Winston-Salem, NC

Position Summary: The primary purpose of this job is to assist the Banquet Chef in the procurement, preparation, and presentation of all food for catered events both on and off-site. Responsibilities also include assisting the Pastry Chef in preparation of desserts and grab and go items for Footnote and private events.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Prepare food according to the Chefs’ specifications
  • Follow recipes, portion controls and presentation specifications established by kitchen management
  • Practice and enforce safe food handling procedures and safety procedures
  • Assist with placing food orders with vendors
  • Monitor quality of the banquet meal during the event and replenish food as necessary per customers’ orders
  • Travel to offsite area in the event a banquet is catered at another location
  • Adapt to changes in a fast-paced work environment and handle frequent changes and unexpected events well
  • Commit to long hours of work and a changing work schedule when necessary to meet goals
  • Assist kitchen staff when necessary by doing whatever is necessary
  • Other duties as required

Position Qualifications:

  • Previous cooking experience in a commercial kitchen
  • Good judgement with the ability to make timely and sound decisions
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm
  • Acute attention to detail
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage priorities and workflow
  • Strong communications skills; Bi-lingual skills a plus
  • Punctual and dependable
  • High School Diploma or equivalent


  • Culinary Arts Degree
  • Previous banquet experience
  • ServSafe certification
